CHART TREK - A BRIEF UPDATE 04.08.05
I felt I needed to put pen to paper so to speak to keep you abreast of developments (and to assure you I've not disappeared into the ether just as things are starting to roll)
It's also important to point out that this is likely to be the last post I make for over a week as I'm off on me hols on Saturday and I don't think the place that I'm staying in is likely to have Internet access.
Whether or not I deserve it, a holiday is definitely what I need as this campaign has been very draining and we've still got a long way to go, but please don't interpret that as being negative, far from it, the reason it's been so hard is frankly the overwhelming interest and support that it's been receiving. The single is still as I write this no's 1+ 2 respectively in the Amazon pre order chart , it's spent most of the last week at that position, and yes they do update it! I took a look last night and Oasis had claimed the top spot only for Hawkwind to grab it back shortly afterwards.
We are also starting to get the Matthew Wright contingent on board, and for this we have to thank Sam who runs the very fine "unofficial" site http://www.tws-fans.co.uk/ like us they are completely behind this so take a look at their very own Hawkwind page as well as the "Forum" which can be accessed clicking on "Get Involved" followed by "Forum" a mixture of Wrighty and Hawkfans have managed to keep a thread going for the last couple of days and believe me people are ordering the single on the back of this, might I suggest that if you haven't already done so, get over there and "Spread The Word!" Also of note is the official Channel 5 site ( http://www.five.tv/ ) which has it's own "Wright Stuff" page and forum. Should mention with this one that you have to register, which I've done, even so I did have trouble login on until I opted for the "Text Only Version" which seemed to cure the problem, anyway they also have a thread so go and join the chat!
I really feel that message boards, forums etc are an efficient and cheap way they we can get the word out there, but we need to put our thinking caps on, we need to spread the word to other less obsessive fans out there, those ones who forgot about the band years ago or who simply think they disappeared long ago, where do those people and other who would like the song if they were made aware of it hang out? This is where we need your help, feel free to make suggestions by
and then I can get the information out to others who can join in the chat on such boards and forums and hopefully stoke up interest that way! put another way -
New message boards + your help + enthusiasm = New fans = More sales
I was hoping to get it done before my holiday but alas I think time will run out but my next big project that I'm embarking on is a list of Radio stations that should be "Hawkwind friendly" and so should be able to accommodate the band in some way. Again we need your help, this time in two ways, firstly to suggest other stations that you think could be suitable and secondly we need you to go out and hound these same stations into believing (and rightly so) that there are literally 1000's of Hawkfans out there and that the new single and album are going to be BIG! let us know your suggestions for stations by -
I think that's about it for now so I'll sign off by saying keep up the exceptional work in my absence, if nothing else just try and consolidate what we've done so far in the next week and then we can push further on once I return, fully refreshed from my holidays!
