Well all the ligging had been done, pens had run out due to the amount of signing that had taken place and by the looks of it, profits for Newcastle Brown Ale were looking healthy judging by the amount that appears to have been drunk. So how do you top that, well with a jam session of course and here's Dr Oz's pictures to prove it!
And there off, into an early lead it's Huw Lloyd Langton, with Alan Davey trailing in last place, whilst Turner and Bainbridge are neck and neck. Must also point out, and I know this picture is a bit small to prove one way or the other, but if I'm not very much mistaken that looks like the "un official" Choose your Masques t-shirt that your wearing Mr Davey!
On the left we see Dave Anderson, Danny Thompson with his top lip hiding behind a cymbal (you'll see why in a mo!) and Nik, whilst to the right it's Mick Slattery with Alan looking on thinking "s**t I've just realised that I bought this t-shirt from some geezer outside the venue, D'oh!
And here
my friends we have the reason that young Mr Thompson was cowering behind his kit. True
this is not the greatest picture (due to the fact I had to crop it and enlarge it from
another) and it is also true that a moustache can suit some people (Dave, Lemmy etc)
whilst on others it looks positively ridiculous and I'm afraid Danny you fall into the
later category! Mind you another Lookey likey for starfarer's site -
Danny Thompson and The Chuckle Brothers (for those who don't know, they're crap kids
entertainers!)
"Nik and Huw together, oh how last year". One for the historians amongst you, was Mr Turner still a member of Hawkwind at this point, I saw him plenty of times with the band in 1984, but by the following Autumn and the Black sword tour hawkwind's sax player was most definitely past rather than present, so this may well have been his last appearance (well, until the next time!)
Could just as easily be a picture from a recent Spaceritual.net gig rather than a jam session from over 18 years ago as Thomas Crimble and Nik go through their paces. Congratulations must also go out to Tom as he has managed to save us from the 'tache once more by placing his bass in front of Danny Thompson's face!
And as they come up to the finishing post, it's Turner by an arm's length, with Langton a close second, Bainbridge takes third and Thompson brings up the rear!
