THE FULL STORY
IN WORDS AND PICTURES
In these days of  speed and convenience it's nice to see that some couples still know how to do things in style and it is with full confidence that we can say that about Arin and Rich who tied the knot on their long distance romance with a ceremony that was not only unique but also a day that both bride and groom are never likely to forget, assuming of course they didn't drink themselves into oblivion by the end of it!

To help them celebrate , the happy couple chose to employ their favourite 70's beat combo, a pop group from we think America by the name of Hawkwind, who not only provided the newly weds and their guests with some toe tapping tunes in the evening but also went beyond the call of duty when it actually came to the pair exchanging vows as the bands singer, 60's crooner Arthur Brown took charge of proceedings. Apparently this did cause a little friction within the band as their leader Mr David Brock told us -

" the way I see it is this - I'm the captain right, and when captains are at sea, in the air or for that matter in outer space, we're like god right, we have the final say on things and amongst our other powers is that we can marry people, add to that the fact I did a thinly disguised solo album in the 80's called Church of Hawkwind to get out of that poxy RCA contract that must make me as good as a vicar"

Arthur is well know amongst his friends for having a devilish sense of humour and loves to play practical jokes. In this picture we see him winding up the already anxious couple and guests as he pretends he can't find a copy of the book "wedding ceremonies made easy"

However Mr Brown stuck his ground, primarily because he was the one who had been given the task of  overseeing the ceremony by Arin and Rich in the first place, and that's exactly what he did, on the veranda of the hotel that was to host the newly married, Mr & Mrs Cosmic- Dolphin's reception and evening gala performance by Hawkwind. Guests commented on the fact that Arthur made a most interesting and amusing speech on the history of marriage before the pair made their solemn vows to each other.

With formalities out of the way it was time for those who still had hair to let it down. A traditional feast of Roast beef and Yorkshire pudding was followed by real Cornish ice cream, all washed down with plenty of red or white wine.

Speeches were soon done and dusted, which meant only one thing - that it was almost time for the pop group Hawkwind to perform. Having changed from their Sunday best in to their stage costumes, the band proceeded with the job in hand, to entertain the new husband and wife as well as their guests. Starting with a song (we think) was called "Love in Spar", which presumably concerned an on going romantic alliance at a late night convenience store. Another track that was a particular favourite with everyone was a rather elaborate number called, we believe "Rock Salt and Battery Acid" and let us assure you that the reveller below was not the only one boogieing the night away to this stomper.

A reveller dances the night away to the sound of 70's "American" beat combo Hawkwind

As the saying goes "all good things must come to an end" and that's just as true when it comes to  Hawkwind and their exciting performance. With all the guests having thoroughly enjoyed the groups particular type of pop music, it was left to a disco to provide the music for the rest of the evening, which gave those who wanted a further chance to brush up on their foxtrot's and tango's, whilst others who were clearly exhausted from all the dancing they did during Hawkwind's energetic display, chose instead to catch up with friends and family.

All to soon it was time for the evening to begin to wind down and slowly and reluctantly the guests began departing for their rooms at the end of a wonderful day.

All that remains is for us at Hello magazine to add our congratulations to the happy couple and to wish them every happiness and success in the years to come.

Note - in case your wondering Hawkwind were apparently billed as "American" by the hotel, thanks to Tom Byrne for that snippet as well as the use of his photos!
